Getting Around

They key points about getting around in Cyprus, and in particular the Polis area are:--

• there is very little public transport
• there are no trains
• car hire is easy and popular
• they drive on the left just like the UK
• hire cars have red number plates - Cypriot cars have yellow and white number plates
• there are lots of taxis at airports and towns
• the main roads in Cyprus are of a reasonable standard
• Cyprus does have a good motorway
• all the road signs are in English and Greek

If you're travelling on a budget and want to get around the island then don't assume that you can always use buses, especially at the airports. Car hire is probably the easiest way to get around and it doesn't have to be expensive.
